Using Brave on an Unsecured Network

*I’m not sure I’m in the right forum, butt here goes: I always use an unsecured network where I live. My question is: gose Brave provide sufficient protection without also using a VPN? Thank you for your response. Ed *

Depends what you want protection from. If the sites you visit use TLS (padlock before url), which almost all sites use nowadays, then no one can see the content of the transmission, but they can see what IP addresses you connect to. You need VPN to hide that as well. Proton vpn offers a free plan. Brave really only blocks third party trackers which create a profile of your (purchasing) interests to market more effectively to you, which isn’t as harmful as stealing passwords but still takes some personal information.
