Description of the Issue
Brave crashed earlier today, followed by a “Profile error occurred” message. After the crash, it took around 20 minutes for Brave to reopen. Initially, both my bookmarks and browsing history were missing. My bookmarks eventually reappeared, but my browsing history is still gone, and it doesn’t seem to be recording any new history either. This device was also disconnected from my Brave Sync chain, and I’m unable to reconnect it.
Steps to Reproduce
- Unfortunately, I am unsure what caused the crash. It happened while I was browsing (I don’t recall the specific site).
- After the crash, attempt to reopen Brave.
- Observe missing browsing history and inability to sync.
Actual Result
- Brave crashes and displays a “Profile error occurred” message.
- Browsing history is missing and not being recorded.
- Device is disconnected from Brave Sync chain and cannot reconnect.
Expected Result
Brave should not crash, browsing history should be preserved, and the device should remain connected to the Brave Sync chain.
Reproduces How Often
This is the first time this specific sequence of events (crash, profile error, history loss, and sync disconnect) has occurred.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:
- Restarting the Brave browser.
- Clearing the browser cache.
- Attempting to reconnect to my Brave Sync chain.
None of these steps have resolved the issue. Any help in recovering my browsing history and reconnecting to the Sync chain would be greatly appreciated. I’m running Windows 11 Pro, and my C drive is nearly full, which I’ve added in case it is relevant.
