I wanted to create a BAT account to fund websites, but found it very difficult to continue giving information to Upload. I scanned my drivers license and uploaded, then they wanted my SSN which I didn’t enter. I stopped right at the credit card number.
How secure is their site, with all this vital information? What safe guards exist?
Can’t Brave just take paypal money?

It’s really not that easy to convert a fiat currency (like US Dollars) to a utility token. Uphold is currently the most direct provider.
Any fiat to utility token vendor you use will have a KYC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Know_your_customer) process which will require information like your driver’s license. Part of Brave’s commitment to protecting your privacy is one of the reasons why we do not hold that information ourselves.
