Description of the issue: How can this issue be reproduced?
Mac M1 Hardware
Update to MacOS 15.0.1
Try to load a website run on an alt port such has http://hostname:
TCPDUMP on both end point web host and MacOS does not show a TCP:SYN request
Expected result:
Expected result is that that web page will load showing content (as it did before the upgrade to MacOS 15.0.1) instead of a failed to load.
Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave is up to date
Additional Information:
Don’t know what else to provide. TCPDUMP clearly shows that no TCP:SYN request on the alt port, but TCPDUMP does show TCP:SYN if using a normal web related port such as :80, :443
mDNSResponder (multicast DNS daemon) SIGINFO signal can dump a snapshot summary of the internal state to /var/log/system.log , including the cache details. To do this:
thanks for the response. I believe this is an Apple MacOS issue. Since Safari works (trusted app) and all other browsers I tried (Chrome, Edge, Brave, MulvadBrowser, Opera) do not work for high ports. So this appears to be an internal (to MacOS) app/Firewall issue and Apple has not documented where this setting is.
If it is a macOS issue, I just thought I’d point out, in case you missed it, there was a new OS release yesterday for 15.1 (from 15.0.1)… maybe see if that update helps?
