On any system we install Brave on using either Winget or Chocolatey, when we go to Help > About we see the following error:
An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 3: 0X80040154 – system level).
This is easily remedied by manually installing Brave but it doesn’t fix it when you’ve got hundreds of systems to deploy Brave to in a business setting. I’ve already tried a reboot and the same issue persists. This issue can be easily reproduced with a clean install of Windows with no other software. Just open a command prompt and type: winget install brave.brave
It’ll install and work but that install will not update automatically. What’s going on here?
