Updated Brave, no way to import old configuration, data

Description of the issue:

Linux here. I had to restore/upgrade my system, which eliminated the older version of brave, which was installed with apt-get or directly downloaded, probably due to the browser telling me to do so. It has been installed for years. I do not remember the version.

After the system upgrade, this time I could only install brave as a “snap”.

My old configuration is at ~/.config/BraveSoftware/BraveBrowser. I have noticed that this new version of brave has created ~/.config/brave. Apparently, no automatic import was attempted.

I have read:

However, this procedure does not (or no longer) works. I only get the “Import bookmarks and settings” pop-up which only has one selection to specify a bookmarks HTML file. There are no windows that are pictured in that article that allow you to import from Brave(old) or any other browser for that matter. I do notice the following message every time I select “Bookmarks > Import bookmarks and settings…”

[12576:12576:1105/182352.826631:ERROR:CONSOLE(1806)] "[Brave Settings Overrides] Appearance Page cannot find use default theme button template", source: chrome://settings/settings.js (1806)

I am pretty sure that I can get my extensions back (never use more than one or two anyway), but would like my stuff back. Would using the sync do it? I have another laptop that I theoretically sync with, but although the laptop is on, I have not touched that one in months. Not sure if the sync automatically updates a browser that is not actively being used.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

|Brave|1.45.118 Chromium: 107.0.5304.91 (Official Build) (64-bit) |
|---|---|
|Revision|3d5948960d62418160796d5831a4d2d7d6c90fa8-refs/branch-heads/5304@{#1097}|
|OS|Linux|
|JavaScript|V8 10.7.193.18|

Additional Information:

WTF???

So, since I was getting no answers (sorry for posting near the weekend folks), I thought I would try the sync from the other browser.

So, I get:

Word count: 24

This code was generated by a deprecated version of Brave, please upgrade your other device first

WTF?? This is completely useless, because if I update the browser on the other laptop, I will have the same [expletive deleted] problem!

How do I do this?

Or am I just [expletive deleted]?

So, I was able to import my old Brave Browser state into Firefox. Not sure if it got my credentials, but my bookmark toolbar looks like it was in Brave, and it seems to have gotten everything but “Other Bookmarks”.
