Any time there is an update for the browser, my browser is being reverted to an older version of Brave. I then have to download the latest version and reinstall it. Once a new update arrives the process reports.
The update seems to fail and i get this error in the About section:
An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 1: 0x80004005–system level)
the version it reverts back to is 1.46.140

Could my IT department have changed some setting in our firewall that is restricting access to the update server?
@wallsnopes it is possible yes but it’s weird that it’s reverting you to the old build, rather than just blocking the update in general.
The fact that it reverts to the same version every time makes it seem like that version of the browser is the last version compatible with your OS – which doesn’t make sense considering you’re using Win 11. Are you running Brave in compatibility mode?
If you download the Beta Build are you able to install it normally and use the latest version (1.79.97 at the time of writing this)?
