[UPDATE] Leo AI allows for access to un-accessible parts websites due to Brave browser blocking -even with Brave shield off & allowed 3rd party-. [Old Title -->]Issue with websites loading pages that have built-in seat selection reservations; Fandango.com

Description of the issue:
Navigating to the seat reserving portion of Fandango.com I am met with a window saying “Not Found. Please Try Again”

I have toggled Brave Shields both On and Off. Allowed Scripts, Allowed 3rd party cookies , disabled extensions (even though I just have Ublock), but nothing allows me to select seating to purchase tickets.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
Navigate to Fandango.com > Select a Movie with seat reservations > Select a Time > receive error

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

  • Under Console I get: /checkoutapi/showtimes/v2/471545814/www.fandango.com:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 ()

Expected result:

In other web browsers (Edge, Chrome, Firefox) I am able to view the seating chart and select seats for checkout.

Reproduces how often:

Every time

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Brave is up to date

Version 1.73.91 Chromium: 131.0.6778.85 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

I also have this issue sometimes on other store websites like Safeway where I can’t search up any products doing the same steps. Some ticket reserving websites are a hit and miss when I experience this issue.

Again I have all my plugins disabled, cleared cookies, cache, allowed 3rd party, scripts, disables shields, and so on, but I still get prompted like these parts of the websites don’t exist.

This will work on other web browsers, but Brave

I want to add something strange I just figured out. Random thought occurred is “What if I used the Leo AI sidebar tool to help me with my issue by toggling on “Shape answers based on the page’s content””. So having that open on the side while opening up the Seating Reservation Page and I am able to now view the contents of the page?

However if I close out Leo AI on the side and re-visit the same page I am unable to view the seating chart?

With and Without Leo AI

However just wanted to note that this is not the solution I am working for nor do I think this should be the intended way. This is the only workaround that I just happened to stumble across.

Any updates to this?

I noticed this again on Domino’s website during their “Claim your emergency Pizza” promo. The thumbnails to claim are non-interactive, but when Leo AI is opened on the side I’m able to see and access more of the website.

@Billserk sorry, I know I missed your topic and must have been the same for anyone from Brave.

I just visited Fandango and can’t replicate what you’re saying:

Not sure where you’re speaking of, but each of these could be clicked on and proceed.

  • Tried in private window?

  • How about in a Guest profile? (Hamburger Menu → More ToolsOpen Guest profile)

  • In a brand new second profile? (Hamburger Menu → More ToolsAdd new profile)

  • Does it happen on Brave Beta as well?

@Billserk I would be interested in knowing the answers to @Saoiray’s questions as well. On my end, I’m able to visit fandango.com and reserve seats/view the fully contents of the page without any issues. Works on both macOS and Windows 10.

Testing in guest/fresh profile and private window will help tell us more information about what’s going on.

Additionally, not sure why it works when Leo AI is opened in the sidebar — lets figure out the root cause of the issue first then we can take a look at why having Leo opened made any difference.
