Unauthorized sending of BAT

i received an email from uphold notifying me I had sent a 1.00 BAT “From your Brave Browser” “To Brave Software International”. I did not authorize this and upon searching the brave community, i’ve learned it’s because “auto-contribute” was enabled on my phone and i must’ve accidentally sent a BAT to a website

the community responses here all seem to focus on making sure to disable “auto-contribute”, which i’ve since done, but there doesn’t seem to be much evidence of these accidentally sent BATs being returned… is it possible to get my BAT back?

and my second question is this: if i contribute to an “unverified creator”, what happens to those BATs? does the creator/website receive any notification of any sort? or do they have to intentionally become a brave content creator and link to uphold to become a verified creator before they see the BATs?

Yes, you need to contact Brave to see if they’ll refund it. If they believe this was a bug where even though it’s off, it sent the BATs, then a refund will most likely be given but if brave believes that one of your device had auto contribute turned on then no refund I guess.
