Unable to sync password on mobile phone ** Solved **

Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to point out that I am French, so forgive me for the bad translation (or rather forgive Google translation haha).

I am having a situation where I have not found any topic that talks about it. I cannot activate password synchronization on my mobile phone.

Let me explain: I have 3 devices on a synchronization chain:

  • 1 Computer “A”
  • 1 Computer “B”
  • 1 Phone “C”.

I can synchronize the desired information, namely the favorites, history, address and passwords of device “A” and “B” together.

I can synchronize the favorites, history and address of device “A” and “B” on device “C” except for passwords.

My phone asks me to authenticate with a fingerprint or my phone’s unlock code to unlock the password sync setting and to be able to switch it to on. I unlock the sync setting, but I can’t switch from off to on, nothing happens (see screenshots).

When I try to enable “sync everything” on device “C” everything is enabled **

**.

If I go back and go back to the sync settings, I have to authenticate with a fingerprint or my phone’s unlock code again and I loop endlessly.

Do you know if this is a known issue and if the developers are working on it?
Has anyone encountered this before?

Phone: Huawei Mate 20 Pro LYA-L29
App version Brave 1.69.153, Chromium 128.0.6613.85

Thank you, have a nice day.

@Jtuk could you do me a favor and grab Brave Beta and test on it? I heard someone else say it was fixed there but haven’t been able to get confirmation.

Hello Saoiray,

First of all, thank you for your quick and clear answer.

I didn’t know that there was a BETA version of this application, in any case I can confirm one thing, the activation of the password setting works well on the BETA version and the synchronization function (for the 4 settings that I selected, favorites, history, addresses and password) works perfectly.

I have a new question that is added to the list. Now that I have downloaded and configured the BETA version, what will happen when the BETA version is stable and deployed ?

Will there be 2 Brave applications, Brave non-BETA and Brave BETA stable on the Play Store ?

Or will Brave simply delete the non-BETA version to replace it with the new stable one and there will simply be an update on the Play Store ?

Thank you for helping the Brave community, have a nice day

@Jtuk Normal version of Brave is referred to as Release, Then we have Beta which is a sneak peek into the next version of Brave, usually 1-2 versions away from Release, then there’s Nightly which is 1-3 months ahead of Release.

All of these are their own apps and will continually update. So eventually the version on Beta will roll over and become part of Release. When that happens, it’s likely one of the Nightly versions will make it to Beta, etc. It’s just a big production line, with something always existing on all ends.
