Unable to stream H.265 format video in Brave browser on both Windows and Mac.
Can be reproduced by accessing any H.265 format video live stream. I have confirmed that on other applications, the same H.265 format live stream functions flawlessly. Brave is unable to support playback.
Windows Version: Windows 10 Pro 10.0.19045 Build 19045 running Brave 1.67.115
Mac Version: Monterey 12.6 running Brave 1.66.118
Sorry for the late reply, had notifications off by accident.
Can’t give you a link as they are my security cameras. I did test that switching the encoding back to H.264 does restore functionality, however I would like to keep it on H.265 as it greatly increases the stream quality on the camera’s mobile app as well as increasing storage capacity for the cameras.
I also had an issue trying to stream F1 TV. I couldn’t find exactly what encoding format they used but based on the behavior it looked similar to how my cameras were unable to be viewed when they were using H.265. Oddly enough their archived content works fine, but anything that is happening live I can’t view on Brave. Works fine in Safari.
Same issue for the H265 security cameras in Chrome.
When trying to watch F1 TV on mac, it now says “This is an unsupported browser” when using Brave. Safari still works fine. Both Brave and Chrome work on windows.
Regarding https://f1tv.formula1.com/ we have fixes in Shields to counter the Anti-Brave checks, Shields/Ads&Trackers=enabled needed. Disabling shields will show the message.
I adjusted the shield settings for F1 TV and that is working now, thank you!
Regarding the Chrome fork, is that something that Brave will ever incorporate either by default or as an option to enable? Because building a custom version is far beyond my technical capabilities
