there is a signon box at the top of the screen where you enter Facebook, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, e-mail address or user name. not certain what they are using, perhaps it is home grown. THis does not appear with Brave but does with Google. after signing on you then comment on an individual article

It looks like the site requires cookies for login. If you change cookies to Allow all cookies in Shields you should be good to go!
