Unable to disable display of recent search history from address bar on New Tab screen if Google is default search provider

If Google is the default search provider, the most recent search history will always be shown once the user clicks in the address bar of the New Tab page. This occurs even if all autocomplete options are turned off.

This issue is resolved when a different search provider such as Bing or DuckDuckGo is selected as default.

This behavior has been observed on Win10 and Android.

This is a significant privacy issue for shared PCs.
