How to get past the issue of Brave refusing to connect?

Allow Brave to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

I figured it out, the issue revolved around my Firewall. I am on a Mac. These are the changes I made to it. See the attached screenshot.
