I feel like I’ve made a series of mistakes which has rendered me unable to connect my Uphold account for Brave Rewards.
When Brave Rewards was first launched, I opened an account on Uphold, signed up as a creator. I was excited to use this new browser. I installed it on all my devices and connected my wallet. This was my first mistake. Shortly after that, I got a new phone. When I tried to set up Brave on my new phone, it wouldn’t let me connect my wallet. There was a maximum of 5 clients that could connect forever. I wish I would have known that before I connected my wallet on a throwaway virtual machine, and an old phone, and a server. Everything worked great on my desktop machine for a while, but eventually I also replaced my primary desktop machine. When my new machine failed to connect my wallet due to the limit, the text on the page said, maybe someday there would be a feature to increase the limit or to deactivate old clients to open up slots. So I just waited.
Years passed, and I decided to try again to connect my wallet. I no longer saw the 5 client maximum message. To my surprise, instead it says my account has been flagged due to unusual activity. I thought, really? How can there be unusual activity when there has been no activity? I haven’t been allowed to connect. It took me a long while to remember that server where I installed brave and connected my wallet. That server is mostly unattended and it’s logged in to my personal website which is linked through Brave Creators. That was my second mistake. That probably does look fishy when my only browsing history is to my own site.
Is there any way to fix this situation? I would like to use Brave Rewards and have it connect to my Uphold account from machines that I actually use regularly. Thank you.
