Unable to connect Rewards to Gemini on new Mac, had it on old Mac

Briefly describe your issue:
I have a new desktop Mac. I installed Brave from scratch, did not transfer over from old desktop Mac. I synced with old Mac, which worked. On old Mac, Rewards are connected to Gemini. But when I try to connect to Gemini on new Mac, Brave says it’s not available in my area. Brave’s system does show that I am in New York. I have cleared cache/cookies and restarted several times. Not using VPN. Location is on. How to fix?

What Operating System and Brave version are you using?
Mac OS 15.3.1 Sequoia
Brave Version 1.75.180 Chromium: 133.0.6943.126 (Official Build) (arm64)

Who is your verified custodian? (Uphold/Gemini/bitFlyer)
Gemini

Are you in a supported region?
Yes. Brave has been linked to this account for years, literally since Gemini came on board.

@mikef Gemini has not been an option for going on 2 years now I think. Any existing profile that had been connected was grandfathered in, allowed to maintain their connection. But once you reset Rewards, uninstalled Brave, or tried to create a new profile (such as moving to a new device), that is lost.

Your only options would be with the current partners (which is primarily Uphold) or for you to do self custody to a Solana wallet.

As you see in the screenshot above, Gemini doesn’t have a checkmark for Rewards.

Thanks, I was not aware.

My only option, then, is Solana (which is fine with me, I am a Solana fan) because Uphold does not support New York. How/where do I set that up? It’s not being presented to me as an option. Would appreciate it if you can direct me to the right area.

Also, I would then want to bridge my existing BAT from ETH to SOL. Do you have a special or suggested bridge to do that? My experience is that ETH to SOL is expensive.

Thanks again for your help

@mikef you wouldn’t have to change your existing BAT unless you just felt like it. Can keep existing BAT in Gemini, trade it away, send to your Brave Wallet, or whatever. Signing up on self custody (Solana) just means all future payments you get would be on Solana

In terms of how to sign up, it’s on an invite only basis at the moment. I have a lot of relevant information over at PSA: Current and upcoming changes to Rewards and Creators.

To quote Chriscat, the project manager of Rewards:

As others noted, it is available but by invite only, and we’ve been sending out a ton of invites. We are going to release an “Enter waitlist” button quite soon that lets you enter the waitlist proactively so we can get an invite to you faster. We will consider the “Enter waitlist” feature 9/10 of the way there to full rollout, and effectively out of “test mode.” The invite model is good and effective, and with the enter waitlist feature, it’s almost equivalent to open access.
