[Ubuntu] No Audio from Brave | But Working from Firefox

Hi @Kevin_cc - as a true Brave fanboy, Brave has always been my default browser on my PC. Just now, I tried the opposite. I changed my default browser to Firefox, then tried to use Brave to listen to audio. But still, I could not hear audio on Brave, but could on Firefox. Additionally, I again updated my installation of Brave (sudo apt upgrade), but still could not get audio from Brave.

I am curious what it means that Chromium works OK, but not Brave or Brave-Beta? Is there something in common there that could help point to the issue?

sorry i did not read the full story but can you confirm the you install brave using those command

sudo apt install curl

sudo curl -fsSLo /usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg

echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg arch=amd64] https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main"|sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list

sudo apt update

sudo apt install brave-browser

or you used snap ?

can you try to create new linux user account (ii mean user name not the browser profile) and see if brave act the same with that new account

Yes, I can confirm that I installed brave using the commands you listed. I mentioned this in my reply to @Mattches (I think reply 17 of 22).

Yes! Ill try to make another Linux user account to see if that works. Maybe that would indicate if something is awry with the account I use.

Woah! When I created a new linux user account and go to YouTube using Brave, I do get audio! Clearly this means something is wrong with this user account. Do you have any ideas where I might look for the problem?

could you go to your os setting (not brave) and check if there any setting that control the audio maybe there system setting that mute it

I donā€™t have any recommendations, however will add that I have exactly the same issue as you.
No sound in Brave, system sounds and audio in FireFox - not Brave.
Created a new user, get audio in both Brave and FireFoxā€¦
Installed Brave from the CLI, not a snap installā€¦
Throughly confused and a little peeved as I am a Brave fan!
