Ubuntu/Kubuntu 22.04 Brave startup takes very long, eats all RAM

Hi,
can’t find anything recent about this which helped me, so maybe this here does:

I freshly installed Kubuntu 22.04 (Tuxedo OS before, Manjaro before) and used your official repos to install Brave Version 1.48.171 Chromium: 110.0.5481.177 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit).

Never had problems with brave-browser on previous OS (Tuxedo OS, Manjaro) and when running it everything is nice as ever but on the first startup of a new instance it takes quite a few seconds (which is a lot on the workstation I’m using). Looking at “top” it uses all available RAM (32GB) in these seconds.

Tried to reinstall, purge all .config-files, tried brave-browser-beta, tried to switch off
Hardware-Acceleration but all to no avail…

Its not a serious issue but sth. can’t be right, so: any advice?

Have you installed proprietary graphics drivers? The stock nouveau drivers are pretty useless. I’m guessing you’ve checked for all OS updates as well. I don’t have any issues on KDE neon which is based on Ubuntu LTS

Thanks for you quick reply! Yes, I have proprietary Nvidia drivers and everything is updated…

Has anyone been able to fix this yet?
