Typing anything in "New tab" is very slow

Description of the issue:
I type (Command+T) in order to create a new tab and then I type google.com
It takes 5+ seconds for the letter g to show up in the browser bar.
It is happening every single time.
The same behaviour (slow) occurs when I click the + (new tab) icon.
The funny thing is that it is NOT happening on “new incognito window”.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
The google.com takes 5+ seconds to show up in the address bar.

Expected result:
The google.com should show up instantly in the address bar as it happens on every other browser even on Brave when using incognito mode.

Reproduces how often:
It is slow every single time.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
I use the latest version of Brave.
Brave is up to date
Version 0.67.125 Chromium: 76.0.3809.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I am using a Macbook Pro

Additional Information:

Thanks in advance.

Hi there! It could be either a caching or extension issue (by default these are blocked in private mode).

Recommend you try clearing your browser cache first. If that doesn’t work, disable any extensions you have running one by one and see if you can narrow it down to whichever one is causing it!

Thank you for the prompt response.

I had cleared cache and it was still slow.

I had no extensions and it was slow.

I have only 2 extensions now.

FYI: I have installed the “New Tab Override” addon and this seem to have fixed the problem for me.
