The translation often doesn't work

Description of the issue:
The translation feature in Brave sometimes doesn’t work—am I the only one experiencing this?

I’ve used browsers like Chrome and Edge before, but I never had this kind of issue.

Even when I manually select the original language or disable Shields, I frequently can’t translate pages on Reddit or X (Twitter).
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
1.Right-click on the site and select Translate.

Expected result:
The translation feature functions properly.

Reproduces how often:
It happens frequently—translation only works about 10% to 20% of the time.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

Same with me, it’s really frustrating and I don’t know why it mostly fails while Chrome has no problem whatsoever.

I have seen a few other issues from users reporting that translation is not working properly in recent releases. In order to help us diagnose this issue, can you please share (if you haven’t already):

  • What OS you’re using when you see this issue
  • What Brave version you’re using when you see this issue
  • Any specific site(s) in which this issue occurs consistently

Recently (since around v1.79.126?), I feel there has been some improvement, but I’ll add this information just in case.

    v1.79.123
    (I believe this issue has been occurring since before this version, but I don’t remember the exact version.)

  • Any specific site(s) in which this issue occurs consistently
    Nothing in particular; it randomly fails on multiple sites such as X.com, Reddit.com, community.brave.com, etc.

We’ve made a fix on our end and this issue should now be resolved. Can anyone confirm whether or not they’re still seeing this on their end?

Hi, I’m on an M1 mac running 15.5 (24F74) and v1.79.118, I keep randomly running into this, in the network tab there’s a few calls to the translate API endpoint and randomly 2-3 will return a 400 error, each time I try it’s a different request that fails

I appreciate the developers who have been working on the fix.
As you mentioned, it’s true that translations have started to work more frequently recently, but they’re still unstable.
For example, when I try to translate random English tweets on X.com, the translation often stops partway through or doesn’t occur at all.

I also use Edge, and its translation feature is very stable. I would be very happy if Brave could become just as reliable.
