Text Pasting Bug

Description of the issue: Attempts to paste copied text sometimes pastes older copied text.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary):

  1. Copy text from other applications (Excel, TextEdit, etc.)
  2. Paste text into browser address bar or various website form fields, previously copied text is placed there instead.
  3. Quit and restart Brave.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result: This should be pasting the most recently-copied text.

Reproduces how often: Rare, maybe once a week.

Brave Version(about:brave): Version 0.66.100 Chromium: 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Reproducible on current live release (yes/no): Yes

Additional Information: MacOS 10.16.6 High Sierra, MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012), I know this was reported quite some time ago and apparently those past issues were closed, but it’s still happening.

Thanks for using the the bug report template!

Similar topics on this forum only had problems when trying to copy something from within the browser, but it looks like that has been fixed as you said.

At first glance, I would think the issue might not be related to Brave, but to the OS, the applications you mentioned or even your hardware (I had to deal with a defective keyboard myself).

Do you copy text by right-clicking -> copy or by pressing Cmd + C, or both?

The next time this occurs, could you try (without copying anything else) to paste the text into a different application?

Hi Medjan,

Actually, I forgot to mention that I did paste the copied text into something else, Dreamweaver in this case. I wanted to make sure I had unformatted text to test out, so after the first paste problem I pasted what was in memory into Dreamweaver, then re-copied that and tried pasting. I believe all my attempts were Control-C / Control-V, but I’ll try using the menu for that next time.

I just now tried the C/V combination and it worked, even when copying from Excel and pasting directly into Brave, so whatever it is it’s intermittent and rare. It’s not a big deal from my perspective but I figured I’d let the developers know.
