Tabs randomly become blank, reloading DOES NOT help

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Attempt to switch to a tab that was already open
  2. Tab has no content displayed, just a blank white color
  3. Reload the tab
  4. The blank white turns into gray instead (I have dark mode on) with clickable links

Expected result:
The webpage should display content normally and everything on it should be visible
Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave is up to date

Version 1.73.104 Chromium: 131.0.6778.204 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
In the blank gray space, links can be moused over (cursor changes to a hand/finger, indicating there’s a link that can be clicked on) but clicking on the link loads that link’s page with the same result (another blank gray color with clickable links).
Reloading does not help, but visiting another webpage, letting it load completely, then returning to the previous webpage causes the page to load correctly.

Same problem here. I’ll have an open tab, go to another one, come back to the first one… and it’s blank. Can take as long as 10-15 seconds for the content to reappear. What’s with that???

Back to Firefox… sigh.

@Livecac
This sounds like it can be caused by a couple different things:

  • An extension that you have installed in the browser might be causing this issue (if you have any installed
  • Graphics Acceleration could also cause behavior like this (Settings --> System --> Graphics Acceleration)

One way we can test this is by creating a fresh browser profile and trying to reproduce the issue in that profile. To do this:

  1. In Brave, go to Menu --> More tools --> Add Profile
  2. Once that profile is created and open, close your original profile window (you should now only have one Brave window open, which is the new profile)
  3. Try to reproduce the issue in this new profile window

Please let me know if the issue persists in the new profile
