Since my latest update (see version below), tabs appearance is worse than before.
Expected:
Tabs clickable and visible area reaches from screen top to the screen/window to the bottom of the tabs bar.
Tabs bar height is minimal, just enough for the favicon and label, and some minimal padding within a tab.
Horizontal padding in each tab is minimal so that there is more space for the text, especially if many tabs are open.
Actual:
Dead space above the tabs.
Unnecessary padding or space below each tab. With the theme
Unreasonably big side padding in each tab, leaving very little space for the tab label.
I think before the update I used some kind of setting to achieve compact tabs, but this seems to no longer work. I also don’t remember the name of the setting.
Version 1.68.137 Chromium: 127.0.6533.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)
OS: Ubuntu, KDE Plasma 5.27.11, X11 graphics
Theme: Ratchet & Clank v2, but I observe similar problem with built-in themes.
The only solution I found is disabling the Updated horizontal tabs design in brave://flags but it doesn’t work for me. The UI is still the updated one and while I am only very much bothered by the width, I am horribly annoyed with the dead space. It’s time wasting as I can’t click the tab from the topmost pixel. Should anyone with a solution read this, please help and should a dev see this, please help.
Same here, tabs are significantly less easy to read/use, on top of that there seem to be unnecessary padding or margin here and then. For example, one of my bookmark folder that easily fit in my screen now does NOT and I have to scroll to reach the bottom most bookmarks (and ideally it should be the opposite to me, the most “fresh” bookmarks should absolutely have higher priority)
I wish I could revert the appearance, I don’t know who got the brilliant idea to implement those changes, but it is a gui DOWNGRADE to me
