Description of the issue:
Seems is a quite old but still unresolved issue.
Tab(s) disappear after switching to any other app on android (13 and 14) for a few minutes and the home or blank tab greets you when you come back, losing all that was open including the URL.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Open the browser
- Go to any website
- Do something (like reading the content, or just keep it active by tapping, for a minute or so)
- Switch to any other app
- Spend a few minutes there (~4 or 5)
- Come back to Brave
Expected result:
Whatever webpage was open when you switched apps has disappeared and the blank tab stares you back
Brave Version:
1.75.115 (nightly but stable does the same)
Mobile Device details
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
Additional Information:
Even previous nightlies (back to 1.70.xxx) and stable/beta (don’t remember the version as I use nightly but tried them to see if this was a nightly-specific issue) also had the same issue. It is, however, not required that you switch apps; simply sending Brave in the background without closing it or turning the screen off for that long too does this.
PS: After I wrote this, which took some time, Brave threw up 403 when I tried to post it. Had to copy the whole thing, refresh this page, and paste it to get it posted. Seems connected to clearing the tab(s) issue.
PSS: Verification also kicks in after refreshing the page if you linger on in the browser but don’t interact with it as if you somehow turned into a bot after proving yourself human initially. So, it seems to be a bank-level security feature to handle app inactivity that saves your browsing data from getting stolen!
