Tabs contrast issue -- light mode, selected tab -- new in recent weeks or month

Description of the issue: Contrast in the vertical tabs recently (in the last few weeks) decreased – I find it more difficult (impossible with some display settings) to see which tab is active, in vertical tabs, in default-light browser chrome.

Contrast levels are frustratingly low, difficult to use, on both the built-in display and the external display (which also washes out contrast and some color at vcp:12 > ~ 70 (contrast, %), and vcp:10 > 95 (brightness, %).

This issue also affects selecting multiple tabs, for, e.g. dragging them to another or a new window as a group.

Private and Tor modes still have delightfully strong contrast.

How can this issue be reproduced?
This is a UI issue, related to compiled in (?, would be cool if runtime configurable) contrast of browser UI elements.

Expected result: Foreground / open / selected tab(s) have enough contrast to draw the eye, instead of requiring a full conscious scan of the tab bar.
