Tab Groups: Vertical scrollbar on the left was working, now is not, more

Description of the issue:

I’m putting more than one Tab Group problem here, else I will never finish submitting this. I’m trying to set up a replacement laptop and every time I try to install/use something I had on the old laptop (same except a newer model and Window 10), I run into an issue and spend hours trying to find a solution, if there is one. More time is spent doing that than actually getting any work done.

  1. Tab Groups and Vertical scrollbar: on the left was working, but on 5/27 there’s only a very thin vertical line and no arrows at the top and bottom, and I can’t scroll, however the line does move on its own. (The Tab Search list has a working vertical scrollbar but it’s very narrow.)
Brave was closed overnight (after midnight so 5/27) and laptop lid was also. I’d installed Google Earth Pro on 5/26; there was a Dropbox update on 5/27. Windows doesn’t list the times.

  2. Tab Groups (TG) and first group at the top: The Minimize Tabs icon (MTI) obscures the first TG name.
If Brave reorders the TG or I reopen/go to a TG by clicking the names at the top of the browser, it does that, obscures.
I tried making a ‘placeholder’ TG at the top, but since the groups move around, that doesn’t work. If I drag a TG to near the top, if it’s only has a couple of entries like my placeholder, the dragged one can be placed (if I’m careful) without it being obscured. If the dragged TG has a lot of entries, I think those get pushed up past the MTI, but I can’t replicate that. I think it happened when the vertical scrollbar is not at the top, which it is right now. If I try to place a dragged TG where the MTI is, it puts it in a new window.

  1. TGs don’t seem to stay in the order that I want in the vertical list. I have to use the Tab Search since I have so many open, but that doesn’t show the TGs.
And some sites I’ve opened outside of TGs so they’re scattered between the TGs.
I’d tried reverting to the horizontal TGs earlier, to see if some of these issues stopped, but that messed them all up (I don’t recall how) and I had to redo them when back to vertical. That was before the scrollbar thing started and I was figuring out how TGs work.

How can this issue be reproduced?

a. Settings:
Use vertical tabs:

Show title bar

Expand vertical tabs independently per window
Show scrollbar
Show on the left
b. Create several tab groups with ~6 entries and expand them, along with untabbed open websites so some are not visible without scrolling.

Expected result:

Broken: only a thin line and no arrows in the vertical scrollbar.
Not broken: a working vertical scrollbar.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version originally 1.78.102 Chromium: 136.0.7103.113 (Official Build) (64-bit) 5/29 auto-update: 137.1.79.118
Windows 11 Pro

Additional Information:

The vertical scrollbar is the priority.
The first TB name and entries? obscured by the MTI are the second priority.

I’d like the TG in vertical view to stay in the same order unless I myself drag them around.
I’d also like the opened websites listed to be at the end of the TGs listed.
Edit: Also have the TG names show in the Tab Search

Can you share a screenshot of the vertical tabs/thin scroll bar you’re seeing on your end so I can get a better idea of what you’re describing?

Here is an annotated screenshot:
The obscured first tab group name
The vertical scrollbar, missing top arrow, and thin line

and, where the missing bottom arrow should be is either where the gray vertical scroll area ends, or is underneath the New Ta

b ‘button’, which gets longer if I widen that left column.

If I click the Search icon, the list that pops open and shows a narrow scrollbar (wider than the now-thin-line), which I wouldn’t mind being wider but at least I can grab it. That doesn’t have arrows like the browser scrollbar on the right and the section to the right of this text box as I’m typing, so maybe there weren’t arrows in the vertical scroll on the left. Either way, I can’t use it.

Edit: Can;t see how to delete the duplicate screenshot.

Ah I see the issue now. Yeah I’m actually not sure why the scroll bar looks that way. I’ve gone ahead and opened the following issue for this:

Thanks. What about the other things that I included when working with tab groups? I have another (quick) question about those too.

Please open a separate thread for those issues so they do not get conflated.

Thank you
