Sync Chain Not Syncing

Good afternoon. I’m writing to hopefully get some help with a sync chain issue I’ve been having ever since using Brave. I have yet to get my phone (a Samsung S21 5G) to connect to my desktop (Windows 11) with the sync chain feature. I’ve tried toggling all the switches off and back on, creating new chains, and even uninstalling and reinstalling Brave. Both devices are visible in the chain, however I cannot pull any information from the other.

Brave Version: 1.73.101

Again, thank you for taking the time to help me with this issue.

@AutoRedux,
Are both devices still part of the chain at this time? If so, can you please launch Brave on your Windows device, go to brave://sync-internals and share a screenshot of this page?

Sorry for the delay. Here’s the requested image.

@AutoRedux,
On your Android device, can you please go to Settings --> Accounts & backup --> Manage accounts and ensure that the Auto Sync Data toggle is enabled?

It is indeed enabled. Although I do not see a Brave account on the list, Would that be an issue?

@AutoRedux if you go to brave://sync-internals on your Android, does it look similar to the one you shared here from your desktop? In particular, talking about the two areas in screenshots below:

Also want to make sure, what information are you trying to get? While I’m naturally wanting to assume bookmarks or passwords, I figure it’s always good to confirm.

I’m partly asking because in the past I’ve had people who spoke like “nothing” was syncing but then ended up being they just weren’t having open tabs sync in the way they were expecting or they thought more settings would sync than it does.

And that’s the last to confirm, they are all enabled on both devices, right? Such as if you have Bookmarks enabled for Sync on Android but have it disabled on Desktop, then it won’t share the sync. I’m assuming you have this set right, but I’d rather make sure.

That last question nailed it, Saoiray. I was not aware that it had to be enabled on both devices for it to work. What I think what I was doing was enabling it on the device I started the chain with and then assuming the settings were in place globally.

This has been bugging me for a year now and reddit wasn’t any help. Thank you very much.

Yeah, as it kind of considers you may have multiple devices or profiles connected. Perhaps you want all bookmarks shared amongst them all but would only want passwords shared by 2 of the 3 or something. Rather than making sync be “all or nothing,” we choose which aspects for each device.

Glad to know that’s it and things seem resolved.
