Switch to tab replaces current tab instead

Description of the issue:

When selecting Switch to tab after typing in the address bar to find an open tab, the current tab is replaced with the contents of the selected tab, rather than switching to the selected tab.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Go to an existing tab and click on the address bar
  2. Start typing to find an different open tab
  3. Click on the “switch to tab” button

Expected result:

The window containing the existing, selected tab should be surfaced and that tab displayed.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Brave 1.79.119 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chromium: 137.0.7151.68

Additional Information:

This is on Windows 11. It started happening a few days ago and happens consistently for me. Let me know what other information I can provide.

Strange that you’re seeing this – wondering if you have any extensions installed that might be causing this? On my end, the Switch to tab button appears to work as intended:

I feel dumb. The button works fine. I had just assumed that pressing Enter on the suggestion would switch to the tab. But you have to actually click the button with your mouse.

Is there a way to make “switch to tab” the default for suggestions which are open tabs? That is always what I want to do.
