Suddenly Google Search results illegibly thin

Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. From one moment to the other - in the middle of several search sessions - the font of Google became illegible - very thin.

  2. My system and Brave version:
    macbook pro 2012 retina running Mac OS 10.13.6. [
    Brave Version 1.23.73 Chromium: 90.0.4430.85 (Official Build) (x86_64)

  3. I do not know how to reproduce this. It happened in the middle of several searches from one search to the next. No restart happened.

  4. What I did to resolve it: searched the web. Found tip to install the Roboto font family on my mac. This did nothing. I also switched Font to Helvetica and then the Roboto. This didn’t work either, the extreme thinness stayed.

Question: How can I get Brave back to displaying Google search results in a legible font weight?
