Description of the issue:
All of the latest versions of brave I have had an issue with the sound cutting out. It does not cut out completely but is intermittently choppy. The last working version for me is 1.64.122. Not sure what has changed but it is basically not usable. it is not a driver issue because sound works fine on firefox, all applications, and in versions prior to 1.65.114.
I am on ubuntu 24.04 but this was happening in 23.10 and I even did a fresh install of 24.04 so it happens despite a fresh install as well. I use sway but it happens on gnome also. I am using wayland. Sound is through hdmi from a 6700xt to a 43in TCL 4k TV using the tv speakers as output.
As of now I am stuck using 1.64.122 because any updates basically breaks the sound. I have tried to change the preferred ozone platform to wayland but it doesn’t work and auto should default to wayland if available anyway as I understand. Also anyone who tells me to turn off hardware acceleration will be ignored.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Going to any video on any platform.
- Play the video.
