"Something went wrong" logging to google account

When logging into a google site, like gmail, after entering password, getting “Something went wrong”.
It started a couple days ago (was working fine). At some point Brave logged me out of an already logged-in gmail.
This is an old/new issue. I had this issue a couple of times with Brave in the last few years.

What I already tried:
. Able to login with Firefox.
. Clearing cache/cookies completely and restarting brave,
. Disabling Shields completely
. brave://flags/ enabling and disabling “Enable First Party Ephemeral Storage”
. Searching here
. Using the latest Brave version
. Disabled all extensions and restarted Brave
. Tried using a private tab
. Enabled/Disabled “Allow Google login for extensions”

“At some point Brave logged me out of an already logged-in _____”

I see that a lot, lately. You might try:

In a New Window, go to brave://settings/cookies

Scroll down that settings page, to Sites that can always use cookies

Click the Add button

Enter [*.]google.com as the site . . . but do not Enable the following:

  • Current Private session only
  • Including third-party cookies on this site

Click the Add button

Repeat those steps for:

  • [*.]youtube.com
  • [*.]gstatic.com

Next, go to brave://settings/content/javascript

Scroll down that javascript settings page to Allowed to use javascript

Click the Add button

Enter [*.]google.com as the site . . . but do not Enable the following:

  • Current Private session only

Click the Add button

Repeat those steps for:

  • [*.]googleapis.com
  • [*.]googleusercontent.com
  • [*.]gstatic.com
