Site causes Brave (Beta) to lag horribly

Description of the issue:

https://www.skepticalscience.com/ causes Brave (Beta) to lag horribly, making it hard to even close the tab that it’s in.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Use Brave version 0.64.60 [Chromium: 74.0.3729.91 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)] on macOS 10.14.4
  2. Navigate to a page on https://www.skepticalscience.com/, such as https://www.skepticalscience.com/97-percent-consensus-robust.htm

Actual Result:

Page lags horribly and causes Brave to freeze up. If you’re quick enough then you can close the tab before it’s irretrievable.

Expected result:

Page shouldn’t be so laggy, works fine on Safari for instance.

Reproduces how often:

Consistently as far as I know.

Brave Version:

Brave 0.64.60 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)

macOS 10.14.4
