'Sign-in with Google' not working at non-Google websites

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:
Can’t login to non-Google websites using the Google login

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Go to a site that allows Google sign in
  2. Press the button for Google sign in
  3. Wait indefinitely

Expected result:
That I’ll be able to enter my credentials for Google and get into the website

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave 1.76.81, Chromium 134.0.6998.166

Mobile Device details
Brave 1.76.81, Chromium 134.0.6998.166

Additional Information:
Based on searching past questions, I’ve already made sure that the legacy Google sign in option is set to Ask instead of blocked, reset the Site Settings for Google, cleared my history, cleared the cache, and confirmed that JavaScript is enabled. I’m very new to Brave, just downloaded last week and have mostly browsed baking recipes.

Also, regular Google sign in, like at Gmail does work on Brave. And the websites where I’m trying to use Google sign in do work on Chrome.

One or more sources of JavaScript are likely also in need of being Allowed, for the website of interest.

I do not have an Android device, so I am uncertain about some details in the following information that applies to a Brave Browser for desktops user ← how that will apply to an Android device.

I leave to you, the “translation” of the principles . . .

The following is an example , visiting TradingView.com

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

https://www.tradingview.com/

Click on the “tune” icon that is located immediately to the left of the URL address field’s https character string.

In the pop-down menu, click the Site settings selection. That action will cause the following link to open in a Brave Browser New Window:

  • brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tradingview.com

Notice that link is using the hostname www.tradingview.com at the trailing end.

Scroll down that page to the JavaScript permission and set that to Allow ← manually.

Using the same window, enter the link, but using the domain name tradingview.com:

  • brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Ftradingview.com

When you scroll down to the JavaScript permission, it might already be set to Allow . . . but if not, set it to Allow

Thus, you are allow both sources of javascripts:

  • tradingview.com
  • www.tradingview.com

Then close that settings window and reload the webpage of interest.

Then test; Trading View’s sign-in looks like:

There are some websites, that you may not win at, because they and Brave Browser are unable to agree / get along / mesh, you might say.

Okay, got it, thank you!
