Please consider making the web-page dark/light setting separately configurable from the browser dark/light mode.
Also, is there an archive of former Brave color themes I could install as a workaround?
As a developer, I understand the “purity” of being able to select a color and orthogonally either “dark” or “light” mode; it’s cool and clever, but I think the current implementation was an overstep and kind of presumptuous because it links the browser theme and the web-page theme. Many web-pages don’t even support a dark theme, so it’s not even a particularly good assumption that the browser and web-page themes should be linked inextricably.
I prefer to use a darker styling for the browser theme, but light themed for web-pages; this is no longer possible. I also prefer to use styles that are built-in to the browser because I know they won’t have janky side-effects like themes from the Chrome extension store.
The old Brave colors were great, fwiw, so if there’s anyway to still access those themes, that would be amazing. I actually do still have access to one of them because it’s currently selected for one of my browser profiles, but if I ever switch away from it, it would disappear forever as far as I can tell.
Thanks!
