Search engine not showing auto suggestions

I have selected google as the default search engine. When I type something in the search bar on a new tab it is not listing any suggestions like google normally does when you type something.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Make google your default search engine in the settings.
  2. Open a new tab and starting typing something in the search bar.

Expected result:
You should see some auto suggestions being popped out as you type.
