Search engine choice being over ridden and forced to YAHOO, random,intermittent

Dear Brave Browser,

I really liked your browser as chrome is too ram hungry, firefox is too quirky, opera too bulky.

ALL MY SEARCHES ARE NOW FORCED TO YAHOO !!

I open the browser
I go to https://www.google.com/advanced_search

I go to the second line : this exact word or phrase
On this line I enter jane doe . and hit enter
this takes me to:
https://www.google.com/search?as_q=&as_epq=jane+doe&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=

THIS PAGE UNDER THE SEARCH BOX OFFERS :
All News Images Videos Books :more Settings Tools

When I click the third choice ‘Images’ , I get taken to:

this happens 8 out of 10 times, randomly. It just started happening this week.
I am using Version 1.5.69 Chromium: 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit)

YAHOO HAS THE WORST “THE ABSOLUTE WORST” SEARCH RESULTS OF ANY PORTAL.
DUCKDUCKGO IS A SUPERIOR SEARCH ENGINE TO YAHOO.

This sounds like a browser hijack caused by some type of malware, PUP, etc… You could ask for help here:

i have a similar problem where all my searches always go to yahoo anyone know how to get duck duck go back

Open brave://settings/searchEngines → make DuckDuckGo your default search engine → remove Yahoo from the list of search engines by clicking on the 3 dots right of Yahoo.

It’s not unusual such issues to be related to extensions. Make sure you don’t use some extension that is changing your default search engine.
