Search bar freezing

Description of the issue:
Sometimes clicking on the search bar will result in Brave freeze temporarily. Once I start typing in the search bar it will freeze up even more. This will happen for several hours and then it will be working fine again for a few days. However, the problem seems to be getting worse in the past 3 months.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Click on search bar
  2. Type in search bar

Expected result:
Using the Brave search bar without freezing like before

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.73.91 Chromium: 131.0.6778.85 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I’ve tried a few things already that did not fix the problem.

  • Clearing cache
  • Disabling all extensions
  • Changing search engine
  • Disabling search suggestions

Any other suggestions for this?

I suspect that some of the issues mentioned at the following:

You can add me to the list of “victims”. It started happening about a week ago. Before that, never had any issues.

In case this helps, I’m on Fedora 41
