Description of the issue:
I received a suspicious email containing a link to a potentially malicious website: safebrowsers[.] [info]. The email claimed that there was an issue with my account and instructed me to click on the link to resolve the problem. However, I believe this is a phishing attempt designed to steal my personal information.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open the suspicious email in Brave browser.
- Hover over the link safebrowsers[.] [info] to check if the destination URL matches the displayed text.
- Attempt to visit the link in a secure environment (e.g., a virtual machine or sandbox) to investigate its contents.
Actual Result:
Upon hovering over the link, I noticed that the destination URL did not match the displayed link text. When I visited the link in a secure environment, it led to a suspicious website that requested personal information, including login credentials and financial details.
Expected result:
I expect Brave to warn users about potential phishing attempts and block suspicious websites like safebrowsers[.] [info] to protect users’ personal information and prevent them from falling victim to scams.
