Saved Passwords Somehow stopped working/changed

Description of the issue:
My saved Passwords stopped working about 10 days ago. When I look into Settings - Passwords, the websites are still there and all the usernames are correct, but the passwords look like this: v11aćҝNJX (this is the password of my router which is supposed to be a 10 digit number).

It happened on a Machine running Ubuntu 20.04
I have both upgraded Ubuntu and Brave to the latest version in the vain hope this might fix the problem, but it did not help.

Brave Version( check About Brave): Version 1.13.86 Chromium: 85.0.4183.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

brave latest version is

Version 1.16.76 Chromium: 86.0.4240.198 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Ah, of course. Updating Ubuntu has disabled third party repositories.

I’m running

Version 1.16.76 Chromium: 86.0.4240.198 (Official Build) (64-bit)

now, the problem persists.

I have never seen this problem before, but it looks to me like it may be due to data corruption on your disk.

First thing to try would be to start Brave with a new profile:

brave-browser --user-data-dir=brave-test

Then try going to a website and saving a password for it. Shut the browser down and then start it again (with the same brave-test profile as above). See if the password was saved correctly or if it’s also garbled.
