Save settings for search.brave.com

What I have found to work for this issue, is to go to here:

brave://settings/content/siteData

…& to get there on your own in the future:

  1. Brave Settings
  2. Privacy & Security
  3. Site & Shield Settings
  4. (Under Subheader: “Content”) > Additional Content Settings (it’s unfortunately kinda buried in my opinion :man_shrugging:)
  5. On-device site data
  6. Choose “Delete data sites have saved to your device when you close all websites” (Sites will probably work as you expect but won’t remember you after you close all brave windows)

Then you can add sites to any of the below as you wish:

  1. “Allowed to save data on your device”

  2. “Always delete site data from your device when you close Brave”

  3. “Not allowed to save data on your device”

Though a more user friendly way to do it is to go to:

  1. Here (the switch button to the left of the address bar > “Cookies and site data”):
  2. Then here (“Manage on-device site data”):
  3. Then here (The hamburger/sandwich menu)
  4. Then choose as you wish, whether it’s to
    “Allow to save data” OR
“Don’t allow to save data” OR
“Delete when you close all windows”
(In the screenshot below I’ve obviously chosen to “Allow to save data” on this website.

Also to consider doing as Mattches suggested above to
  1. Go to Brave icon >
  2. Advanced controls >
  3. “Forget me when I close this site”
Assuming you have that toggled on in
  1. Brave Settings >
  2. Shields (or brave://settings/shields ) >
  3. “Forget me when I close this site”
(Clear cookies and other site data when you close a site.)

With that I have under
  1. Brave Settings >
  2. Privacy & Security >
  3. “Delete Browsing Data” (or brave://settings/clearBrowserData)
  4. to NOT delete “Cookies and other site data” so I have that UNchecked within the “On Exit” subheading saved (as well as “Sites and Shield Settings” UNchecked but that’s about it).
This is an example of being able to do a similar thing a multiple different ways.
Hope that helps  :+1: (and BTW this is as much as reminder for me as it is for anyone else, sometimes I need to setup a new browser and forget how to get to my original good settings like this   )
