@koushikromel appreciated. The issue you’re reporting should be fixed in updates. Missing the version numbers, OS, etc was a big thing on the other post which is why I closed it. Always wanting people to give at least the basic rundown so know a good starting point. I’m seeing that you do seem to have everything current.
Let me ask to be sure, are these still creating duplicate names? Or might they be part of what existed from before when this was an actual issue? Such as if you remove the duplicates, do they stay gone? Or if you delete the sync chain and create a new one, does it work well?
I’m afraid of removing them since you don’t know which is original even if you say delete the old ones that is dated oldest. I think I’ve done it before am not sure what happened at that time.
Deleting the sync chain again I’m afraid of the data loss or what happens to all these data like bookmarks these kind of things if needed I’m ready to do that as well as long this issue will be fixed.
And the screenshots provided was just taken since you asked still creating duplicate names.
I have tried removing some of the old devices long back but it keeps on coming and if needed i will remove and what happens if i delete the sync chain and create one does it affect my datas like history, bookmark and etc…
I have the same problem. On the 13th, I installed BRAVE to try to solve the comment problem on YouTube. I did the entire BRAVE configuration and today, the 15th, it created another copy of the device in Sync. I have had more than 6 copies of the same device in Sync.
@isTroopyciuu you are speaking of only installing Brave and configuring on one device. But now if you look back at all of your devices, are they all updated or is one using older version of Brave?
Hi everyone, I’ve been using Brave for about a year now, and while I’m really happy with most of its features, I’ve hit a bit of a roadblock when it comes to managing devices in the Sync chain. While looking for solutions, I stumbled across posts on this forum mentioning that the ability to rename devices has been requested as far back as 2020. It seems the Brave team acknowledged this suggestion back then, but here we are, and it hasn’t made its way into the browser yet.
The issue is especially frustrating because Brave’s Sync chain allows a maximum of 10 devices. Without being able to assign custom names, it’s really hard to tell them apart. For instance, I have several devices listed simply as “iPhone,” and I’m struggling to identify which ones are still in use versus older ones I’ve retired. The time stamps don’t give enough context, so I’m left guessing which ones to remove.
I’m wondering if this feature is still being considered or if it’s been ruled out altogether. And, in the meantime, has anyone figured out a workaround to better organize devices in Sync?
I’d love to hear some advice or updates on this—it feels like it would be such a useful addition for many of us!
