Rumble videos won't play with "Autoplay" disabled in Brave

Starting yesterday, I can no longer play videos in Rumble, unless I allow “autoplay” in the Brave settings. If I have autoplay disabled, I get a timeout and a “Result_Code_Hung” error in Brave. I dumped all of my cache. This only happens with Rumble. Is this a Brave issue, or a Rumble issue? Thanks.

@Ramfat73 If can only answer one or the other, I guess I’d say it’s a Rumble issue. This is more theory than anything because I lack the expertise and haven’t spent a lot of time, but just from my basic observation and testing on a few browsers, the issue appears to be based on how Rumble has everything coded. It’s kind of the interplay between them trying to show ads and all, which gets stopped if you’re blocking autoplay. Basically it’s trying to open and autoplay something but your settings is preventing it. And they aren’t loading it as content you can then try to pause/play.

That said, I guess will try to tag in @Mattches to see if he has a more accurate or thorough explanation. Also not sure if is something they might think should be looked at for web compatibility or anything.

@Ramfat73 in the future, please be sure to choose a category, provide essential information, and/or fill out the template that appears when you do put a topic in a category. You can see more about this at this guide on creating topics

@Ramfat73 can you please tell me what OS and Brave version you’re using? I am not having any issues playing Rumble videos with Autoplay disabled. There is a bit of a bug where if I click play, the video will start, then pause again — but if I click play again the video plays normally. I’ll look into this issue separately.

Weird. Earlier I did get a video or two that seems to be stuck on loading when I tried, which is why I replied as I did. But testing again now it seems as you mentioned. Perhaps it just was something with internet or a specific ad thing that was trying to show and being blocked.
