Right-clicking on a bookmark in the bookmark bar, and then pressing “t” when the context menu opens, will delete the bookmark completely. It never did this before, used to only be “d” that did this while the context menu was open, now “t” does it as well.
In ANY other circumstance, right-clicking a link on a webpage, and then pressing “t” immediately while the context menu is open will open in a new tab, and not delete the whole link. The bookmarks used to work the same way until today.
Brave Version 1.65.123
Additional Information:
I’ve not edited any settings in many many months, and I don’t think there has been an update to Brave today when this happened, it seems spontaneous and random. I’ve always been opening tabs like this, and it has become muscle-memory at this point.
@BrandX I’m sure you’re familiar that when you open things like context menus, which you are doing by hitting right click, generally will have keyboard shortcuts. Typically, they appear like below:
As for right clicking on Bookmarks, it doesn’t seem that has any visible context.
They should have the letter underlined for what it does. In the situation you’re sharing, T actually is associated with Cut. So it cuts it, allowing you to paste it where next. So go back to Bookmarks and right click, then click Paste and it will paste the bookmark back in.
That said, I’ll tag in @Mattches and @steeven as not sure how they want to pass on the info. There should definitely be some visible clues as to what keyboard commands do what on each menu.
Is there any way to edit these so that they align with the rest of of the system?
Even if they do not show up, it would be nice to have some control over the shortcuts.
This looks like its inherited from Chromium, as I see the same behavior in other Chromium browsers as well. That said, I can’t say for sure why/when the shortcut/behavior changed.
So at this time there is no way to change this behavior as there is no available way to alter the context menu specifically. We do offer the ability to change keyboard shortcuts in the browser (brave://settings/system/shortcuts) but again these do not apply to each individual context menu.
