Request for Enhanced Dify Tool Support on Brave Search

Hello Brave Community,

I’d like to suggest an improvement for the integration of Dify with Brave Search, which I believe could benefit a lot of AI app developers.

Dify GitHub: https://github.com/langgenius/dify

For those unfamiliar, Dify is a popular platform used to build AI applications, and many developers, including our team, rely on it for creating innovative AI-powered solutions. Currently, there’s a Brave tool available on Dify, but its features are quite basic and lack support for important functionalities like “Data for AI.” This makes the tool less effective for those who wish to fully utilize Brave Search in their AI applications.

If Brave could enhance its support for the Dify tool, it would unlock greater potential for developers, attracting more integrations and usage from the Dify community. This, in turn, could drive more engagement with Brave Search through various AI-driven apps.

For reference, here are the official links to Dify’s documentation and the existing Brave tool:

I hope this can be considered, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or provide more information if needed!

Best,
Rick

@Rickchiu I’m sure someone from Brave may see and decide to respond, but one thing I wanted to make sure to speak on as a user is the idea that Brave does have the API available for people who want it. Obviously they aren’t going to give it for free, but that API should be able to work with everything as you mention. (Friendly reminder, I don’t work at Brave. I’m just an active user who helps out)

BYOM as well

Beyond adding the API to AI for training, I’m not quite sure what you’d be seeking. And for any AI built, Brave also has a BYOM in the browser where people can plug in their own trained AI and host it locally, such as you can read about below:

Guess my big question is what you’d be asking beyond what is shared above?

Hey, thanks so much for the thoughtful reply!

I appreciate you taking the time to share all this info. I totally get that Brave offers an API, and the current Dify tool for Brave is actually built on that—our team’s already a subscriber to the Brave API service.

We’ve been using Dify to build our AI apps, and I’ve got to say, Brave Search has been super helpful in this area. My main point is that Dify has a growing community of developers, and the apps they’re creating are reaching a lot of users. That means if these developers use Brave as their search provider, it could bring in a lot more users and revenue for the Brave API service.

That said, the current Brave tool on Dify isn’t quite as smooth as it could be—it’s a bit limited and could really use some improvements to make it more user-friendly.

So, I think it would be awesome if the Brave team could consider officially supporting Dify’s Brave tool. After all, who knows how to make the API shine better than Brave themselves, right?

Plus, the Dify integration isn’t too complicated, and other search providers have already done a great job with their support, like:

Would love to hear your thoughts, and thanks again for the chat!
