Flash support appears to have been removed from the browser, and I would like it to be reimplemented as brave is not an official chromium fork.
Adobe has stopped supporting it, as has all the browsers. It would be a huge security hole if it were re-implemented. But as with any open source code, you’re free to fork the Brave source code.
That’s impossible. From Adobe’s website:
Adobe strongly recommends immediately uninstalling Flash Player. To help secure your system, Adobe blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021.
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/end-of-life.html
There are old flash versions without the self disabling code available, and there is an archive of installers on archive.org
I do not care if adobe does not like this, and the browser can always be hardened to prevent unauthorized access to flash.
Brave could consider adding support for Ruffle (ruffle.rs) or a similar Flash player emulator for legacy content. Particularly if properly sandboxed.
As for Flash itself, the product is no longer supported and it would be a security backdoor potentially for every user.
-1 for flash…please no
