Proton VPN extension connection issue

Description of the issue:

I recently tried to install the extension for the Brave browser, but it didn’t work well.

Without giving any errors or anything, it completely stop browsing every “x minutes” and then, and all the sites would time out. While on other browsers, without the VPN extension, I could browse without any problems.

After some minutes of downtime, everything would resume.

It’s not the fault of Proton VPN’s stability, as I’ve tried using the same extension on other browsers and it all works fine. I also tried installing the desktop version and in that case, everything works fine even with Brave.

Proton support doesn’t seem to find any problems related to the extension, especially since it works on other browsers. Are other people having these problems with the Proton VPN extension and Brave Browser?

if u can just try to use the actual proton vpn app its much better and works great with brave :slight_smile:

Sure! But I’m not just thinking about myself and I was simply wondering if it was a common problem or just my problem. And if it’s a common problem, maybe understand how to solve it :slight_smile:

I also noticed that this only happens when activating the “Security Core” mode.

I only encounter the problem with the desktop extension of Proton VPN and by activating the “Security Core” mode.

If I activate the VPN app on desktop or smartphone, there are no problems with Brave.

As I said, I mainly wanted to understand if it is a common problem or if it is exclusively my problem.

As I do not have a Proton VPN account/subscription I cannot test this but I would imagine that it affects more users than just you. I’ve informed the team about this so that they’re at least aware.

For now, I would recommend using the app instead of the extension as that appears to work without any issues.

i was unable to use it to sadly :frowning: but the normal app does work fine for me :slight_smile:
