Profile Names no longer show in Preferences files

Description of the issue:

I used to be able to query for profile names by reading the preferences file under each profile folder, which I can still do with Chrome and Edge. It worked in Brave until a few versions back, and now they all show name=“Profile 1” instead of the name that shows in the profiles UI. Is the name mapping being stored elsewhere? If there’s a better way to query this using an API method I have no problem changing how I’m doing this.

Since Brave is based on Chrome or Chromium, why would it make sense to diverge on how profiles data is stored?

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open (or read) the preferences file for any profile
  2. under the profile section, expand the name property

Expected result:

The name should match the name of the profile as it appears in browser settings UX.
