I just installed the Brave browser for the first time and I already encountered two problems for myself, namely:
(Bug) As I set the Brave browser to directly access this path brave://apps when entering it, 6 icons (“apps”) appear that start with the phrase “greaselion” and all lead to the Extensions page brave://extensions (see attached images). I specify that I have not installed such extensions. If I click the Home button, the 6 non-existent “extensions/applications” do not appear.
(And here, after I clicked the Home button, it appears as an unsecured page.)
Why can’t the Brave browser be directly installed in the user’s language, taking into account the regional settings of the operating system (eg. Windows) as can be done when installing other browsers (such as Google Chrome)?
Greaselion is a built-in component that comes with the browser. That said, you shouldn’t be seeing it there and it should only appear if it’s downloading/updating the component.
If you refresh the page does it still appear there?
But otherwise, I’ll give quick summary as per ChatGPT:
Integration with Brave Browser: Greaselion is specifically designed for the Brave browser. It’s an internal framework used by Brave to create and run user scripts that improve privacy and performance on various websites.
Purpose: The primary goal of Greaselion scripts is to block ads, trackers, and other unwanted content, enhancing user privacy and browsing speed.
Functionality: Greaselion scripts are integrated more deeply into the browser, providing optimizations that are closely tied to Brave’s ad-blocking and privacy features.
Installation: Users typically don’t manually install Greaselion scripts; they come bundled with the Brave browser updates.
You have me a bit confused here. It does download based on your OS region and settings. I’ve never known it to only install in English and require anyone to change things.
