Problem with "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents"

I’ve “Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents” Enabled on my tablet.
However, it doesn’t work on CNN (and possibly some other websites):

The text is black on a black background. I remember it didn’t look like this when I visited CNN, a few months ago.
The same page looks OK in Chrome (desktop, Dark theme enabled as well).

Android 13, Brave v1.78.999

@b2025b,
Worth noting that the “dark theme” and the “Auto dark mode for web contents (Night mode)” are separate things. Additionally, you can enable the “Night mode” feature in the browser settings directly without using the flag (Settings --> Appearance --> Experimental night mode).

This particular feature is managed by the underlying Chromium engine code and denoted as “experimental” given that it may not always function as intended. Further, if you enable this flag in Chrome (note that in Chrome it does need to be enabled via chrome://flags), you’ll see the same behavior:

By “Dark theme” I meant Dark Mode.
Yes, I did notice that if you disable “Settings → Appearance → Experimental night mode” in Brave, “Auto Dark…” (in brave://flags) gets disabled too.

I have disabled Chrome on my tablet so can’t check.
I still don’t know why CNN looks OK in Chrome (desktop) but not in Brave (Android). Other sites look exactly the same in Dark Mode.

To clarify, if you enable the Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents flag in Chrome and visit CNN, the site appears normally?

Yes, in Chrome (desktop).

btw didn’t notice someone else had opened a topic with the same issue.

Anyway, I tried viewing CNN in desktop mode on my tablet but it look the same as mobile version.

Here’s a screencap in Chrome (desktop):

only 3 extensions enabled: uBlock, modern scroll and disable HTML5 Autoplay
