Problem with AirPlay when the screen is off

I use AirPlay to send YouTube and Twitch videos from an iPhone to my Apple TV

When the iPhone Screen is on, everything works fine: I can use the Apple TV remote to play, pause, press left/right to skip 10 seconds or swipe the clickpad to move through the timeline

When the iPhone screen is off, I can play and press left/right to skip 10 seconds. But when I try to use the remote to pause, AirPlay disconnects. Same thing happens if I try to move through the timeline
